This tutorial will guide you through the simple process of enabling clear-type in Windows XP. ClearType attempts to improve the appearance of text on certain types of computer display screens by sacrificing color fidelity for additional intensity variation.

  1. Right-click on your desktop and choose 'Properties' from the context-menu.
  2. Go to the 'Appearance' tab
  3. Click the 'Effects' button
  4. Tick the checkbox which says 'Use the following effects to smooth the edges of screen fonts:'
  5. Select 'ClearType' from the dropdown
  6. Click 'Ok'
